Happy 30th Birthday to Best Friend
Monday, June 29th, 2009Poem To My Therapist
Sunday, June 28th, 2009How privileged I’ve been
To have a therapist like you
There’s no one who comes close
I ought to know, I’ve tried a few
I’m very sad you’re leaving
You can never be replaced
And I’m so greatful for your help
With problems I have faced
I’ll remember all you taught me
When life puts me to the test
And in spite of the loss I’m feeling
I wish you the very best

Save The Date Poem
Sunday, June 28th, 2009You’re invited to a most unusual
Nontraditional affair
At the Museum of Natural History
In Wilmington, Delaware
Annie Gould and Adam Chung
Are tying the knot! Can’t wait!
So please get out your calendar
And be sure to save the date

Happy 60th Birthday
Saturday, June 27th, 2009What a thrill to see you here
Celebrating your big Six-O
After the drama at Monument Mountain
We had our doubts, you know
You turned a putrid shade of green
You couldn’t breathe, what a fright
Turned out not to be a heart attack
Just a wussy fear of heights
When I was barely 30
I nearly knocked you out cold
I was showing off my new grown-up look
And you told me I looked OLD!
Seriously, thanks for the memories
We’ve done everything with such style
Like getting wasted at Nippers
When we went to the Virgin Isles
You waltzed wobbly Janet around on the beach
A sight I’ll never forget
So young and foolish under the stars
That’s as good as it gets
We’ve been through thick and thin together
Sharing happiness and strife
Births, Bar Mitzvahs, weddings, grandkids
We’re truly bonded for life
What do we wish for you, dear friend?
A joint to smoke each night
You and Janet mean the world to us
Hope this decade treats you right!

Happy Anniversary Tribute
Friday, June 26th, 2009Your anniversary passed
But we can explain
Life in the boonies
Has made us insane
The cat ate the card
No we can’t use that
You know darned well
We don’t have a cat
How about this
Our phone was out of order
Or would you believe
We were South of the border?
Wait, we ate a tomato
And turned chartreuse
Forget it, dear friends
There’s just no excuse
So we’re coming clean
Here’s our explanation
In Smithtown we’re mired
In disorganization
The calendar never is
In the same place
Occasions are missed
It’s a total disgrace
Hope you’ll forgive us
For being remiss
Here’s wishing you years
Of wedded bliss

50th Birthday Tribute
Friday, June 26th, 2009Having a major birthday
Shakes people up, somehow
But relax. I checked. It’s official
50′s the new 40 now
Whew! You can still be a hot young chick
So smart and funny, too
And we’ll always do breakfast after gyno exams
Comparing the gross things they do
You’re MVBF, close as family
Girl, you’re the cream of the crop
We’ll keep meeting for sinful lunches
Savoring every drop

Poem About Private Jets
Thursday, June 25th, 2009A private jet is not just for the wealthy!
Did you know?
You and your friends can charter one
Without a lot of dough.
Often private jets won’t even
Cost more than first class
So when you get the opportunity
Never let it pass
These days commercial airlines are a hassle.
Not much fun
You have to go through torture
Before the flight’s begun
They want you at the airport early
Just to wait around
Yearning for a private jet
To take you where you’re bound
Going through security is a nightmare,
This is true
You’re treated like a criminal
And could be strip searched, too
Once you board the plane
Don’t look for meals or magazines
No roomy seats.
You get scrunched in with strangers, like sardines
You snooze and dream of private jets,
Praying nature doesn’t call
Going in the tiny loo
Is the worst experience of all
A passenger beside you loudly snores
And passes gas
Your jangled nerves are on the verge
Of shattering like glass
The whole adventure leaves you looking haggard
Drained and old
Next time you’ll use a private jet
If you have to sell your soul
In a private jet you’ll travel
In the lap of luxury
Every whim attended to
Like you’re royalty
The seats are soft and comfy
Plush beyond compare
You’re wined and dined on haute cuisine
Prepared with utmost care
You’ll never have to worry
That your luggage might get lost
The peace of mind you pay for
Is cheap at twice the cost.
Chartering a private jet
Lets you choose your time to fly
No schedules to adhere to,
No hours of standing by
There are few major airports
Close to exotic isles
But a private jet can always find a runway
Wwthin a mile
Check out some charter brokers
Who’ll rent you a private jet
It’s cheaper than you think
To take a flight you won’t regret!

18th Birthday Tribute
Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
I’ll never forget the day you were born
I was drawn to you from the start
It was wonderful living in the same house
Where you grabbed a hold of my heart
I told you crazy stories
Made up wacky games to play
Cared for you and taught you stuff
And we’re bonded to this day
The years flew by and here you are
Suddenly eighteen
With a magnetic personality
And the looks of a beauty queen
Everybody loves you
So sensitive, kind and funny
My niece, my friend, my “baby sister”
My beloved and special honey
As you move toward graduation
Here’s my fervent wish for you
May you be fulfilled and happy
In whatever you pursue

Soup Party Invitation
Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009Time for our Second Annual Soup Party
Like the one we threw last year
We’re planning a terrific night
So please make sure you’re here
Good food and drinks plus lots of laughs
With a congenial group
What could be better on a cold winter’s night
Than warm, delicious soup.

Teacher Tribute
Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009Dear Mrs. Gillis,
You took a handful of geezers
In various stages of decay
And with love and skillful guidance
You helped us each write a play
How talented you made us feel
At our age when triumphs are few
We’ve been floating around on a high for days
All because of you !!!
